Projects

Work in progress.

Some are well underway. Some are in the starting blocks. Making something visible is often the first step toward making it real.

The Work

What I'm building

Proud2b

Status: Writing

A book about failure, success, more failure — and ultimately finding my own path through healing, ambition and some big, audacious goals.

It begins with sport and moves through building businesses across different countries, relationships, achievement, mistakes, reinvention and the work I've had to do on myself along the way. Not a highlight reel, and not an attempt to turn my life into a lesson for someone else's.

It's my story. I'm still writing it.

Talking to the Llama

Status: In development

What studying Applied Linguistics, a lifelong interest in philosophy, decades of teaching, business success and failure, a couple of divorces, healing from co-dependency, and now an amazing marriage and family have been teaching me about communication.

Not from a place of knowing, but from experience, empathy and curiosity.

I'm interested in what happens between people when we speak, listen, misunderstand, persuade, teach, love and try to make ourselves understood — and increasingly, what happens when language also becomes the way we interact with technology.

The Art of Teaching Indoor Cycling

Status: In development

Sharing what 15,000 classes taught me about teaching indoor cycling.

Training science, programming and music matter. But so do presence, communication, storytelling, energy, emotion and the ability to read a room. After more than three decades of teaching, I'm trying to put the craft I've spent most of my life practicing into words that other instructors can use.

Reflective Moments

Status: Writing

A growing collection of personal writing about things I've lived through, struggled with, rediscovered or simply felt.

The first collections — Bellend, It's Not You, It's Me and Re-Curious — move through heartbreak, self and rediscovery. The Relief of Dying explores mortality as a reason to live now.
